Rotavirus is one of the causes of diarrhea that can cause death. This Virus can infect the intestines and cause diarrhea in infants and children. This Virus most often occurs in children up to the age of 5 years, and more attacking the upper intestine epithelium cells, which can cause impaired food absorption and diarrhea.

The way of transmission of this virus is through the anus to the mouth. The dirt from the anus that accidentally enters the mouth of the child and swallowed is what then causes diarrhea. This usually happens when the child's hands are dirty due to touching or holding objects that have been contaminated. As a result, children may be exposed to rotavirus more than once, and the first infection generally becomes the worst.

Symptoms of a child who are affected by rotavirus are fever and vomiting at the beginning of infection. Furthermore, the child will experience long enough diarrhea, up to 8 days. The difference is that children affected by ordinary diarrhea with rotavirus can be observed in the child's buttocks area. Children who are affected by rotavirus usually buttocks will be reddish and the day smell acidic. Generally, the child also loses appetite and dehydration.

Unhandled dehydration can lead to some complications and can even lead to death. That is why the first treatment of diarrhea due to this rotavirus is to replace the discharge fluid. In addition, because it is caused by viruses, diarrhea due to this rotavirus does not require antibiotics. Viral infections will usually heal themselves within 7 days. However, if there is a symptom of dehydration that cannot be addressed, you should immediately bring the child to the doctor for treatment.
